Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers for teachers and school organisers.

What ages is the experience suitable for?

Children from approximately three years old through Grade 3, including the full Foundation Phase.

Is it suitable for nervous younger children?

Yes. The trained team makes the dinosaurs calm and gentle around younger or nervous learners, while older confident groups can enjoy more energetic interaction.

Is the programme suitable for English and Afrikaans learners?

Yes. The programme is presented in English and is suitable for both English and Afrikaans learners. Afrikaans schools have enjoyed the experience and their learners follow the presentation well, helped by their familiarity with English through television and other media.

How many learners can attend?

Up to approximately 130 learners can usually take part in one day. Larger schools can be divided over multiple days.

How long does the experience take?

A standard visit generally runs from about 7:30 to 13:00. Exact timing depends on learner numbers, rotations, venue and school logistics.

What must the school provide?

Usually only tables for fossil making and a spacious venue. A hall is ideal, although we can adapt to other suitable spaces.

What happens if it rains?

We first try to move an outdoor programme indoors. If no suitable indoor venue is available, the visit may need to be rescheduled.

Do teachers pay?

No. Teachers attend free and remain responsible for learner supervision and discipline.

Does every learner keep a fossil?

Yes. Every learner completes fossil excavation and fossil making and receives a fossil to keep.

Are worksheets available?

Yes. Comprehension worksheets are available on request.

When are Cape Town visits available?

Cape Town school visits are offered from 1–30 March and 1 October–30 November. Gqeberha schools can contact us to discuss dates.

How much does it cost?

School visits start from R105 per learner. Final pricing depends on learner numbers, location and logistics. A R4,950 minimum applies below 50 learners.

Does submitting the form confirm our booking?

No. A visit is confirmed only after Jurassic Adventures confirms the booking in writing.
