Cape Town: March & October–November · Limited school dates

Jurassic Adventures

A well-organised school day

The team brings the complete experience and manages the activity rotations.

1

Arrival and setup

The team generally arrives between 7:00 and 7:30 and prepares the presentation, dinosaurs, fossils, sound and activities.

2

Dinosaur presentation

The full learner group attends an approximately one-hour interactive presentation with Ranger Ron.

3

Meet the dinosaurs

Learners meet Toasty and Ruby as the trained team adapts their movement to the group.

4

Class photographs

Schools may take class photographs, subject to their own privacy and photography policies.

5

Activity rotations

Manageable groups rotate through fossil excavation and fossil making, approximately 30 minutes per activity.

6

Fossils to keep

Every learner receives a completed fossil to take home or paint in class the next day.

Example schedule

A typical day for 100 learners

Times are a practical guide and can be adjusted around the school timetable, learner numbers and venue.

Team arrival

Check in and unload equipment.

Setup

Prepare the stage, dinosaurs, sound, fossils and activity stations.

Jurassic show

The one-hour presentation, dinosaur encounters and class photographs.

Group changeover

Learners are divided into four manageable classes.

Classes 1 & 2

One class makes fossils while the other completes the fossil dig.

Classes 1 & 2 swap

Each class completes its second 30-minute activity.

Classes 3 & 4

Fossil making and fossil excavation run simultaneously.

Classes 3 & 4 swap

Both classes complete their second activity.

Fossil preparation

The team presses out the fossils, prepares them for learners and packs away.

Capacity, timing and venue

Up to approximately 130 learners can usually be accommodated in one day; larger groups can be divided over multiple days. A standard visit generally runs from about 7:30 to 13:00, but timing depends on rotations and logistics.

The school generally provides tables and a spacious indoor venue. Indoor space is preferred, although indoor/outdoor combinations can work. Teachers remain responsible for supervision and discipline.
